Caroline Akinyi Omwaya alias Nyar Kanaan, a renowned Luo Gospel Singer, is now appealing to well wishers to help her raise money to build a good house.
Speaking to Elijah Odongo, Founder and Director of Christian Charity and Evangelism, Omwaya narrates that despite her dominance in the Gospel industry especially in the 1990s, her life is far much different from what people think.
Despite mixed claims that the Maestro is owning cars, renting houses, enjoying her pension and others busy spreading fake news that she is dead, she is still alive, languishing in abject poverty at her home in Ligongo village.
The Artist, together with her ailing husband, are residing at their home in Magunga area, Ligongo Village, few miles from Sori Town.
For years, her life has been full of pain, regrets and millions of unanswered questions to her falling from the rock of fame to the miry clay and horrible pit of tumult.
“I have suffered and gone through so much trouble. Am not the “famed” Caroline most of used used to know. Although people have fraudulently benefited from my labor, I have always persevered and forgiven them. While many have been advising me to seek legal action, I have been hopeful God will come to my rescue,” She said while speaking to Elijah in a video.
“I have been at this home for 3 years now. We began from Zero. Despite this, I have continued to respect my husband,” She added.
Still amazed of Elijah and his friend’s visit to her home to help her raise funds from well-wishers, she went ahead to narrate that her deplorable house, where she has been living since the past 3 years, belongs to her late co-wife.
“I am amazed how God has come down to my rescue, similar to how he sent Moses to rescue Israel. I really wish to have my own house. Even passersby have been persistently telling me that Caroline you don’t deserve to live in this kind of house,” Narrated the Luo Gospel Legend.
The musician has welcomed everyone to send their contributions regardless of the amount and help her complete the project.

Progress so far
Construction of the house has already began. However, since the amount raised is not enough to build a permanent house, semi-permanent house is set to be constructed. At least, something better than her current house. Still, this is subject to the amount that shall be raised.
By Sunday 19th 2021, items worth approximately 35,000 Kenyan shillings had been raised out of the estimated budget of at least 100,000 shillings.
Work began began on Monday as appeal for more funds continue.
Omwaya’s Music and Plans
Despite being in her late fifties, the Kenyan musician continues to minister to many through songs, some which she did long before the listeners were born. Her songs still receive airplay in several radio stations and social events.
Some of her renowned songs include; Yesu Lwanda, Jerusalem Dala Maler, Yesu Hosana Tim Hono, Injili nyaka Yal Ayala, Hazina Juu kwa Baba, Siku Yuaja and many more.
