It was a sad Thursday morning for worshippers of International Gospel Ministries (IGM) in Migori after they woke up to find their church broken into, watchman killed and expensive valuables missing.
According to reports, unknown robbers suspected to be part of gang currently terrorizing residents made their way into IGM and committed the heinous act.
The first eyes witnesses were shocked to find the church open and body of Maasai watchman lying lifeless within the compound.
The burglars also got away with two speakers, one piano, power amplifier, mixer, among other expensive valuables.
Many, including church members, have condemned the incident terming it a total disrespect to the house of God.
“Robbing and killing in church premise …May God deal with the culprits,” posted Carol David, renowned Gospel singer and Worship Leader at IGM.
“Stealing in Church and killed someone?? They are finished Finished for Goooooooood in Jesus name Amen,” Said Dicken Pius.
It is not yet confirmed who committed this act.
This case points out the increasing cases of robbery and theft in churches within Migori; a place ostensibly respected and considered holy.
Just a week earlier, thieves broke into PEFA church in Isbania, Migori and stole piano and other valuables.
Two days earlier, after the killing of two watchmen in Uriri, area MP Hon. Mark Nyamita called on law enforcement authorities to come out, arrest perpetrators and restore peace in Migori County.
