With only 10 days left to the deadline, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho is the only politician who has so far submitted an application for an ODM ticket to run for the 2022 presidency.

ODM Party leader Raila Odinga and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who have also expressed interest in entering the party through 2022, are yet to submit their applications as the February 26 deadline nears.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna revealed yesterday that ODM had received Mr Joho’s request but added he did not know if Mr Odinga and Oparanya are going to submit their applications before the deadline.

“We have received a request from Governor Joho and we hope that other candidates’ applications will continue to flow before the deadline. We have not heard from other candidates but we hope they will respond to the call in the next few days, ”said Mr Sifuna.

Mr Odinga has been silent on whether he will be in the race in 2022 and now has 10 days left to determine whether he will run for the presidency after President Uhuru Kenyatta retires next year.
