Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security in Kenya Dr Fred Matiang’i has revealed the government’s plans to publish the names of drug traffickers.

Speaking in Mombasa after meeting local leaders at Tononoka Hall, Dr Matiang’i said the plans are ongoing.

“I will make sure that the promise I made is fulfilled. At the moment the plans are still going on because we have to do everything legally, ”said Dr Matiang’i.

Last year, Dr. Matiang’i promised that the government will publish the names of the traffickers involved in the drug trafficking business as well as the names of businesses they have been using to cover up their illegal trade.

The plan aims to combat drug lords, especially those who are rooted in the Coast region.

“You saw before Christmas last year we published the names of those responsible for funding terrorism suspects and that is what we will do in relation to those involved in drug trafficking,” he said.

He said the government will not allow a few people to continue to benefit as hundreds continued to suffer because of the illegal trade.
