Aspiriring Homabay Women Representative Lavender Ojalla has responded to her competitor Mary Ojode’s fire-and-forget missile “siemnwa chuori” (show us your husband) she unleashed during a burial event of former Ndhiwa MP Agostino Neto’s uncle on Monday 31.
Ojalla blasted Mary, among others, in a Facebook post on February 2, saying, “There are four candidates vying for the position of Woman rep Homa Bay county whose sole campaign Agenda has always been similar to what I watched in that video,”
She added that “that video doing rounds so it’s nothing new… Their politics is mostly in funerals.”
Lavender also narrated that having done a SWOT analysis of herself before resolving to contest for the seat, she “understands the game.”
She further urged her fellow youths watching from a distance and afraid of their own shadow to rise, get into the battle and take on their opponents head-on.
“My generation interested in politics should come out strongly and fight for their space without getting distracted and intimidated.”
The widow of the late assistant minister for Internal Security Joshua Orwa Ojode gave a fiery speech on Monday, wooing voters against Lavender, whom, according to her, is still a young unmarried girl who should not vie for any position.
“If you are still someone’s daughter, not yet married, know that the women position if for women,” Mary said. “This position needs a courageous woman who has already left her home to live with her husband.”
In a short address at the burial, the late’s wife spent the entire time castigating the candidature of Ojalla, whom she claimed, after elections, might decide to elope with their seat to her husband’s home instead of serving her constituents.
